The #1 Key to Success

“I want the money, money and the cars,  cars and the clothes… I suppose, I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful.” -Drake ft. Trey Songz & Lil Wayne- Successful

Sitting on the school bus, mp3 player in hand, Drake’s hit song, “Successful” blasts in my ears. Agreeing, with his lyrics, I nodded my head to the beat and smiled because that’s exactly what I wanted to be.

Successful.

At the time, my vision of success consisted of:

  1. My high school crush falling madly in love with me.
  2. Passing my geometry class with a B.
  3. Making it to Graduation Day.

What can I  say,  my hormones were raging, I was 16 and I had a massive fan crush on Drake.

Back then, Drake was a great inspiration to me. He’d recently left the highly-ranked Canadian teen drama series, “Degrassi: The Next Generation” to pursue his rapping career– and I was all for it.

Twelve years later, my motives have changed. My vision too. Yet, success still ranks high on my list.

Now, what about you?

What are your motives?

When it comes to success what thoughts come to mind?

  1. Money?
  2. People?
  3. Yourself?

If any of these do, no need to be bashful. We’ve all been there, so trust me when I say you’re not alone.

During our journey to success, our motives will crave those things, but we must remember they are not the number one key to success. In fact, the number one key to success isn’t tangible, but it’s something we should operate in daily.

FAITH

That’s the key!

Simply put, Apostle Paul is sharing with us that faith is our currency. It’s a mindset we carry of great hope and assurance that whatever we envision and command, WILL take place when God is our number one priority.

Following that verse, Paul goes on to say that God was the first to demonstrate faith when He created the entire universe before seeing it by simply commanding it.

This is why WORDS are so powerful and we must be mindful of what we say because life and death lie in the power of the tongue.

As we swing into a new season and start this new month, I encourage you to be intentional about what you want. Speak aloud your heart’s desires and take them to God in prayer. Declare to Him what you want. Sure enough, you’ll begin to see them manifest right before your eyes! I’m excited for you and I cannot wait to hear your testimony!
