Get Quiet: The Lord is Ready to Speak

It’s the first quarter of a new year and if you’re like many– you’re anticipating a fresh word from the Lord. You need Him to speak.

During your one-on-one time with Him, you sit in prayer, heart pounding, ears straining for something—anything—that confirms He’s listening because you feel like you’ve been doing all the talking.

But silence lingers. You want to believe He’s speaking, but doubt is attempting to creep in.

But, Not today satan!

What if I told you that God has been speaking all along, waiting for you to simply get quiet because the answer you’re waiting for has been there all along, just buried beneath the noise of your thoughts.

Let’s talk about it.

That Moment You Knew It Was God

Do you remember the first time you knew—without a single doubt—that God was real? That He saw you? That He was speaking directly to you?

I do.

I was in college, desperate for clarity about who I was and why I was here. My church held a monthly prayer night, and I walked in that evening with one goal: to hear from God.

As soon as I stepped inside, I could feel it—the weight of His presence. It was thick, undeniable. I found a pew, dropped to my knees, and poured my heart out.

And then, as clear as day, I heard Him:

“You’re a seer and a leader.”

Tears filled my eyes. I knew—I knew—God had spoken.

But before I could even process it, my pastor called me to the altar and confirmed the very words I had just heard. Word for word.

I was shaken.

That moment changed me. Not because I was suddenly perfect or had it all figured out. But because I realized something powerful—God speaks. And He speaks to me.

Samuel Heard Him. So Can You.

Thinking back on that moment, I can’t help but remember Samuel’s story.

In 1 Samuel 3, Samuel was just a boy, serving in the temple under Eli. He hadn’t yet had his own encounter with God. So when he heard his name being called, he assumed it was Eli. Three times he ran to him, saying, “Here I am, you called me?”

But it wasn’t Eli. It was God.

Finally, Eli realized what was happening and told Samuel, “The next time you hear Him, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.’”

And when Samuel did? Everything changed.

God didn’t just call his name. He revealed his destiny.

God’s Been Speaking—Are You Ready to Listen?

Here’s the thing: God’s voice isn’t the problem. Our noise is.

We get so caught up in our own heads—our insecurities, our doubts, our distractions—that we miss the fact that He’s been speaking all along.

He’s not ignoring you. He’s not withholding His voice. He’s just waiting for you to get quiet. God doesn’t play hide and seek. When you seek Him, He answers.

It’s Your Turn

So here’s my challenge for you:

Get quiet and show up with great expectations. Tell Him what’s on your heart—the fears, the frustrations, the questions. And then? Listen. Don’t force it. Don’t overthink it. Just be still. Because I promise you this: The Lord is ready to speak.

Are you ready to hear Him? I can’t wait to hear your testimony when you do.
