From Meltdowns to Miracles: 5 Steps to Prepare for a Thriving Year

Recently, I had a random meltdown at my kitchen table. Tears flowed and snot ran. After crying out all I could, taking a few breaths, and releasing my frustrations to God, I was taken back to the full-blown meltdown I’d had a few years ago in the middle of my closet.

At the time, I was rushing to find something to wear for a last-minute event, and of course, it was just one of those days where my natural hair refused to cooperate, my skin revealed all of its dirty diet secrets, and no outfit in my closet looked appealing to me.

Needless to say, this ended with me sobbing uncontrollably on the floor of my closet surrounded by a pile of clothes. Yet, in the same breath, that meltdown turned out to be the much-needed divine intervention I desperately needed.

Because yes, I was crying about clothes, but let’s be honest, there was something else deeply rooted in me that needed to be released and the only being that could help me was God.

For me, that night in my closet and last week at my kitchen table turned out to be my coming to Jesus meeting with well– Jesus!

I learned I could no longer show up for things I was not prepared for. I discovered the importance of preparation and how to reevaluate what I possessed. And I began to understand the importance of my heart posture and how I truly NEEDED to invite God into ALL THINGS even the minor things I thought I could handle without Him.

Have you been there before?  In a random spiral of gloom, unsure how to get out of the funk of sadness?

I just know I’m not the only one.

Oftentimes, when a new year strikes we immediately wire our minds to the “must do better mentality”  because we did not like the outcome of the previous year. But, have you ever sat back and thought about what did turn out right? What God did see you through that year and how He’s equipped you thus far for this year to thrive?

Sis, as you wind down this month and gear up for next month, I encourage you to shake the dust off your feet and continue to move forward even when you don’t physically see progress. Remember that God does and just as He promises in Galatians 6:9 in due season He will allow you to reap a harvest as long as you don’t lose heart.   It’s time to rewrite your narrative, and you can now do so with these tips in mind! Here are five steps you can implement in your schedule to prepare you for the thriving year ahead.

5 Steps to Prepare for a Thriving Year

1.REFRESH YOUR PURPOSE-  Ask God to refresh your mindset, for wisdom, and divine connections to help you in the direction you should go as you charge forward into the year.

2.DON’T JUST DAYDREAM, WRITE THE VISION– If you haven’t written out your goals or aspirations for this year, it’s never too late. Begin to make the future God has designed for you a reality this year. Whether that’s creating a vision board or creating a list of S.M.A.R.T. goals, God wants you to know there are no more limitations. You can move freely in Him.

3.PLAN YOUR BRAND WITH GOD–  Think of yourself as the manager of your brand and God as your CEO. Remember our God is not one of confusion and He’s graced you with ALL the tools you need to make your brand a success. His only request is that you trust Him and allow Him to lead you in the right direction.

4.TAKE INVENTORY: OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW– Take inventory of what you have, need to get rid of, or replace altogether; there might be things that no longer fit you physically, mentally, and spiritually.

5.DRESS AS YOUR FUTURE YOU– Make it a habit to get dressed with great expectations every day. As you prepare for your day think: “Today is the day that everything changes, I won’t just look the part, I will become the part!”
